U.S. Sends More Forces to the Middle East as war with Iran Intensifies
The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Dan Caine, acknowledged the possibility of an extended campaign, while the announcement was made that six U.S. service members have been killed in the conflict. In his first public event since the fighting began on Saturday Trump stated,
Whatever the time is, it’s OK, whatever it takes. Right from the beginning, we projected four to five weeks, but we have the capability to go far longer than that.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed Trump’s prediction that the fighting would continue. He said that the United States would continue to strike Iran until it had achieved its objectives, including destroying Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities.
The hardest hits are yet to come from the U.S. military. The next phase will be even more punishing on Iran than it is right now.
